If you hold an interest in knowing about the historical treasures of the country, you must get to know about the history of the famous Gavno castle in Denmark. The impressive collection of paintings and carvings of the castle was founded by Count Otto Thott Gavnø. All the famous manuscripts and the Rococo interiors were his creativity and idea. Although the place is accessible only by private boat, it is open for the public to make visits.
The building and the park were designed in the year 1402 and the church is similar to the nonneklostrets buildings to some extent. The construction was started in 1402, but the second wing was started in 1650 and was completed in 1750. Visitors and tourists can visit this castle from April to September every year.
In the year 1850, the style of the garden was changed to English-styled landscape with grass surfaces. The noble trees as well as lawns that are present today were created 100 years ago.
The southern end of the park was designed with plants and trees in the year 1755. The amazing art collection of the castle and its rooms were engraved in 1703 in a bronze plate that highlighted the Christian Gyldenlove funeral. In these paintings, you can see the entire route of the funeral moving from the Military Mission in Copenhagen through the entire Copenhagen.
Numerous exclusive-looking sculptures and monuments can be seen in the entire surrounding area of the Gavno castle. Here, you can find the sculptures and monuments carved on the memorial of His Excellency, Lensbaron Kjeld Thor Tage Otto Reedtz-Thott. Here you can also find the memorial of the Dannebrog who was known for holding the barony Gavno in 61 years of age. A memorial aid was also raised for the needy people on March 22, 1912.
If you are mesmerized to see the splendid cherry trees in the passageway of the garden of the castle, you must learn more about its history and the story behind it. Baron Otto Reedtz-Thott is the current owner of the Mr. Takaki’s bakery, which is the first bakery in Japan selling Danish pastry. The cherry trees were planted in the castle’s garden when he met Japanese entrepreneur Mr. Takaki through a common friend in the year 1980. When Mr. Takaki visited Denmark after the Second World War he discovered Danish pastry and he was very much impressed by the appearance and taste of the pastry. This inspired him to open his bakery.
He was continuing his business with baron Otto Reedtz-Thott and imported cheese to Japan where he got a chance to visit Gavno castle – known by the Danish like Gavnø slot. The beauty of Gavno impressed him a lot and it became one of his best experiences. In 2001, Mr. Takaki was no more, after which a monument in his honor was raised along with the cherry trees in the garden of the castle. Since the year 2007, two bakeries were established in Copenhagen in the name of Mr. Takaki. The monument is placed in the road that’s leading to Gavno and the cherry trees flourish in the month of May.
