Let us first start with the ingredients. Here is what you will need.

  • 350 grams of caster sugar,

  • 4 to 5 eggs,

  • 80 grams or butter or margarine, whichever is preferable for you.

  • Next will be 350 ml of milk followed by

  • 450 grams of flour

  • You will also need 3 teaspoons of baking powder, vanilla sugar and 2 tablespoons vanilla extract that will add to the taste.

These are the primary ingredients. You can also add some toppings of your personal choice. My preferred topping is the classic dream cake topping and will require 150 grams of butter, 350 grams of dark sugar and 175 grams of desiccated coconut followed by 50 ml of milk.

  • To start with, you must first melt the butter and allow it to cool down completely before going any further.

  • Next, once the butter has melted, you must whisk the eggs and sugar until a froth is formed.

  • Mix the flour, baking powder and vanilla sugar or sift them together into the mixture.

  • Now you must add margarine, milk and beat the mixture carefully. This procedure must be done with utmost care. Once the batter is mixed thoroughly, you must get a baking tray.

  • Pour the batter into the tray and bake for nearly 20 minutes at a temperature of 170 degrees.

  • Keep an eye on the tray to check after 15 minutes and remove when it is baked.

  • To make the topping, you need to mix the topping ingredients together and form a mixture.

  • This mixture must be poured on top.

  • Bake for another 5 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. This will ensure that the topping sits well.
